i like david beckham. you are right, he is an excellent free kicker and a great player. But...He is also getting older and he isn't as good as he used to be. There are a lot of young talented guys on the england team, like terry, who will be on the squad for many years to come, and who can do a lot of good for the england team. terry is good because he is what will be shaping the team for future tournaments. he is also young and very talented and will be great as captain. i'm not saying beckham wasn't good, he was, but his time is unfortunately up.

No doubt David Beckham is good but it seems that he is going past his prime, he used to be the guy that you can count on to score some big goals, but something happen to him down the road where he just seems to choke during some crucial penalty shots i don't know if he showed go back to England or even stay in Spain the man need a change of scenery to get that level of confidence that he once had in his early years of football. In my opinion Terry was there only choice to be the next captain he is the main guy that keeps England's back 4 rock solid.

I agree with you Beckham is a very good player he deserves more credit i think he should still be the captain of England right now but that dumb new coach dropped him from the squad i don't understand why everyone says he's overrated people must have forgotten he was the reason England beat Paraguay and he was the reason they beat Ecuador and made it to the quaterfinals.

Beckham sucks and so does Terry...Stevie G is England's asset
Taking banana free kick does not proof your a good player. Its the way you dribble, shoot, pass and cross that matters. That's why Ronaldinho rulezz the soccer world.
As for the lady above, soccer is the best in the world cause freaks like you should keep your opinions to yourself

When he appeared years ago, he was a very good player and looked like he was going to be one of the great ones. But he choose to be a " media darling " and he went down hill from there. And he is a choker. I would like to know how many goals he scored from free kicks in the last 3 years. I bet, very few. Would you keep a player in your team just to do that? But the truth is that I don't know any English player better than him right now.

i wouldn't use the word 'hate'. he just does not hack it for his country. opposition knows just man mark him out of the game and england will be ****. he has not evolved from the footballing sense ever since he broke into his national team. still the same old same old. way past his sell-by date,.

He is a walking clothes horse with weird hair dos and earns more in a week than most folk earn in a life time. Is that enough? Also, football is the most boring, apart cricket, game in the world.
