Assuming you already check that sound is not mute from the system. Simply reinstall the driver which is generally come with the motherboard' CD. After installing the driver re-boot ur computer.

do a quick check to see if its just an application issue. Go to start, select control panel and select the sounds and audio devices. Confirm under the volume tab that the device is right, the mute button is not check and the volume is actually set in the middle. If you have interactive speakers you may need to go into speaker settings. To test go to sounds tab and select one and hit the play button. If you have a sound come out ou are done, if not then you may need to reinstall voice card drivers if you are using a third party card. Good luck
