Hello, I have been testing for ovulation since my period has ended with the ANSWER brand test strips and they have been negative everyday. I am on cycle day 16 right now. My cycle is usually 31 days long, has been 37 days once. I have the book Taking Charge of Your Fertilty and it is interesting; however, my cervical mucas is still wet and I have a feeling I have already ovulated or I am. Could the tests be wrong or could I ovulate late? My husband and I are tcc, this is our second month really trying. Thanks everyone!

It's not suprising that your test strips would have all been negative until now. Typically, you would ovulate about 14 days before you expect your period. So I would guess that you might get a positive ovulation test in a day or two, especially with your wet cervical mucus. You may feel a slight ache, cramping, or twinging which indicates that your ovary follicles are working on getting an egg out. But some people don't feel it at all. Just stay with the tests and best of luck to you! The waiting is the hardest part.

I used ovulation predictor kits a couple of times and they never really worked for me. I never got a test line that was truly darker than the control line, so I simply took an "almost-as-dark-line" to be a positive & went from there. Right now, I upgraded to a clear blue easy fertility monitor, simply because it gives me a simple way of knowing when I am ovulating (and taking my daily temperature was never accurate for me because I sleep with my mouth open, which Taking Charge of Your Fertility says can alter your readings). Hope that helps!

I also had the test strip. And, they didn't change for me either. Then my Reproductive Endocronologist gave me his favorite brand to test. Turns out...I wasn't ovulating.

Further testing revealed PCOS.

The tests are generally not wrong. Just keep using them until your period comes on. When you get the clear cervical mucous it means you are close to ovulating. Once you get used to the changes in the body you'll know when to better time the use of the tests.

I used those tests too, then I found out I have pcos and did not ovulate in the first place so that is why it was always showing negative, my gyn sent me too a fertility specialist and he put me on Metformin 500mg twice daily, and 50mg clomid and in one month I was pregnant I found out when I took an ultrasound that is when I knew my follicles where not maturing and ovulating. So, I think you need to talk to your doctor.

keep trying to get the test right, but take your temp every day as well. there is usually a slight dip when you ovulate.
