Well to Peer-to-peer w/o a server and having two computers.. You'll need to invest in a crossover cable (you could also make your own). Also, you'll need to assign a default gateway and also assign static IPs. Then you'll have to set it up so that one computer is the host computer and the other is a client. Then in the client, make sure to note that the gateway is the host computer's IP address. You do not need to set up the DNS. All this will be done in the properties window of your NIC. There will not be any internet on this connection unless the host machine has a second NIC card and you set it to allow users to connect to the internet using that NIC connection. Good luck... Then again...
If you want to hook up two computer with internet on both... I suggest investing in a Hub ($32 - $75 depending on what brand you get) and 3 CAT 5 network cables ($5 - 50 depending on length). That way you can hook up an uplink from the Hub to your cable or DSL modem and hook up both computers to open ports on the Hub. Hope this helped.

peer-to-peer, or abbreviated P2P, a type of community in which each computer has equivalent applications and household projects. This differs from shopper/server architectures, in which some pcs are committed to serving the others. Peer-to-peer networks are frequently less difficult, yet they sometimes do not grant a similar performance less than heavy plenty.

Quite simple
1. My defination for Peer to peer is -making two or more computer terminals to communicate with each other without using any external active or passive device.
2. Just connect three wires to two computers com port reversing tx and rx and common earth and make them communicate is the basic peer to peer networking.
More practical details please do mind contacting
Best of Luck

I believe there's no way to do p2p completely without a server to run the filesharing service. It's like a blind date. Your computer tells a remote server what it's looking for, the server says "Oh, I know a computer who would be PERFECT for you!", and hooks your computer up with the computer (or computers, kinky) which has the file.
If you do it without a server, it's not really p2p, it's just basic networking.

You're looking at a serial connection between two computers run over tcp/ip. Windows help will take you through setting it up step-by-step. It's not terribly simple to do and tends to work less effectively than a server assisted connection.
