I do not think we need religion, organized or otherwise, to be in touch with God. As my religion prof says, "God is a function of geography" meaning that many different places have many different gods and the regional norm is usually the one that gets passed down to any progeny and is therefore continued. I am not an atheist, I don't actually label myself by any religious moniker. I believe in good and evil, karma, and doing no harm. I pray when I feel the need. Religions are a good way for people to connect and feel as if they are a part of a family. It can be rather helpful for some that feel that they need the community provided by religion. As for me, I feel connected to the spiritual world everytime I pray. I don't feel disconnected simply because I do not go to a church or synagogue. I ask for help when I need it and usually feel a sense of calm washing over me, I help others when I can, and I try to stay on the good side of karma.

No not at all. I don't believe need to go to church were they always want money. I don't think that's the way it was in the beginning of any religion. Does any one know why there is a city in Rome that has so much gold but yet there are starving people in the world that is no kind of religion I want to be part of. Look I'm just going to end this now the hole thing pisses me off sorry

To be in touch with god we do not need any religion.

You can pray to god anywhere, anytime.

If you believe in god, without any religion you can still talk to him in your mind and tell your problems by just closing your eyes.
And whatever your say with your true heart is your prayer to God

Try this and God will listen to you.

Absolutely not. God is everywhere and anywhere. I can pray to him wherever I am. Although raised in an organized religion, I consider myself spiritual now with a very strong belief in God.

yes. one needs religion to be in touch of god. now 1st let us understand as to what is god. it is a supernatural power. it is a light that guides us, the humans as to what is right and how to bring happiness to the mankind. what and how should be done to gain social acceptence. now the 1st part. the religion is the tool that makes us implement the characterstics of this supernatural power in life. thus religion brings us closer to god. i am a hindu and when i implement the worldly characterstics of lord rama as mentioned in religion i find myself more acceptable and social which is the ultimate goal of life. thus i come in touch with my god.

absolutely not..

i do not belong to any religion but i try to have a connection with my "higher power"... i do not have a traditional idea of "god", rather i make my own definition by what fits and feels right to me...

I believe that relgion is ONE way of being in touch with "god", but it isnt a one-size-fits-all... i consider myself spiritual...

when i started out, i felt stupid "praying".. now its much easier, usually i just say a little "thank-you" or ask for guidance.. ive heard people say that you dont need to ASK your higher power for anything, as they already know what you need, so sometimes I just talk, in my head.. i might say things like "im so impatient today"

I am religious, and that certainly is enough for me to be in touch with God, i.e. when I pray.

However, I think if you are purely spiritual in nature, and so long as you believe in God, you can connect with him, and pray to him.

No. I think the best way to sum it up is what god would say "I gave you a brain, think for yourelf. You know what's right and what's wrong".
