Yes, but very, very few. Most are counterfeits. The easy way to tell if you have a counterfeit (a copper-plated steel cent) is to see if it's attracted to a magnet. If so, it was not an actual copper cent. You can also weigh them - an actual copper cent weighed 3.11 grams, as opposed to the steel ones that only weighed 2.7 grams. The real copper cents are worth tens of thousands of dollars.

1943 was the year that the united states government put out a steel Pennie, the reason that they did this is because they needed the copper for bullets and bombs during world war 2. I don't know if there were copper cents issued in 1943, but for the most part the cents were all made of steel in 1943.

Yes, but only by mistake and they are very rare. Coin blanks are put into large hoppers and even when emptied some stick to areas, where there are welds. So some U.S. coins have even been struck on Blanks from other countries. The mints used to mint coins for other countries in past times. As told to you, if it is a 1943 zinc coated steel cent that was copper platted, it will stick to a magnet. By the way there are also some 1944 zinc coated steel cents also.

There were a handful made but this was accidental. Since the minting presses were set for steel planchets (blanks), 1943 copper pennies will have very high relief and sharp details. Steel pennies are easily plated with copper, so check with a magnet before buying one.
Incidentally, no 1943 nickels contained any nickel!

In 1983. whilst the fee of the copper might have surpassed one cent, the U. S. replaced the penny to copper-plated zinc. you could % out those modern-day zinc cents (some 1982's additionally) using fact they do no longer "ring" whilst dropped onto a tricky floor...frequently a lifeless thud.

They weren't. I think they were steel or aluminum that year.
