Don't worry about germs. They're everywhere but you are tough. Germs don't cause infection and they can't infect you. If you get a cut, scrape or some injury then you want to keep it clean so bacteria doesn't thrive and cause an infection. Soap and water should do it.

There are several different ways that germs can be spread (or transmitted) from one person to another. These include:

* Direct Transmission: Direct contact with the infected person
* Airborne Transmission: Germs sprayed through the air
* Droplet Transmission: Droplets of fluid from the respiratory tract of an infected person
* Vector Borne Transmission: Carried by a insect or pest
* Vehicle Borne Transmission: germ carried on an inanimate object.

Staff may be responsible for infection control problems if they fail to prevent the transmission of germs. Transmission of germs may result in a chain of infection (one person infecting one or several others who each in-turn infect others). The role of staff is to take the actions needed to break the chain of infection; that is prevent the transmission of germs.
