He needs to get help. I am not quite understanding your question but I am thinking you are saying he cheated on you and you wanted out so he tried to commit suicide. He could be trying to stay with you out of pity. He needs help!!!! You should not stay with him because your afraid he is going to do something to himself. Tell someone what he is doing do not keep it a secret.

The best you can do is be honest about your feelings, and not lead the person on. Be upfront about how you feel and the possibilities of anything happening. Sadly, the decision of someone else letting go is not your own. Letting go of someone you love isn't easy, specially after a 6 year marriage. These things take time, and time will heal the wounds that need to be healed. Be honest about your feelings towards this person, because a desperate heart can see any vague detail as a signal of hope. He needs to go to counseling to learn how to deal with his emotions. Its the only way he can learn how to cope with his feelings.

If he's going to commit suicide, he's got deeper issues than you. Let him go by packing up and leaving and don't tell him where you're going. If he cheated on you, he deserves whatever comes his way.

You can't get someone to let go. Only you can let go, or walk away. His actions, including potential suicide, are ultimately not your responsibility.
