Is that what I need to put pictures on the computer? I know I sound stupid, but I have never had a computer in my life.

If I use just a digital camera, how do I get pics onto the computer? Should I just get a digital camera? Are the pics more clear?

You can either use a scanner or get a digital camera.
A decent scanner isnt too expensive, maybe $100-200. You can even get printers that have scanners built in.
digital cameras will give you clear pics, depending on what kind you get. (you get what you pay for!). But you can get a decent one fairly cheap. Most will come with a cable that you plug into the USB port on your computer. Then you can just move the pictures like any other file, put them in a folder on your computer, or burn them to a CD. You can attach them to an email like any other file.
