Give your mom the link to your question!! lol

No seriously, just tell your mom exactly what u have said here, and tell her you need to do something about your period cramps (and if she STILL thinks u trying to get birth control to start having sex, then ask her to just take you to the doctor to find out if there is something else to help your cramps)

Usually, I am all for doctor-patient confidentiality. but in your case, it is time you, your mom and your doctor sat together and had a talk. Severe menstrual symptoms can be a sign of endometriosis or general dysmenorrhea, but they can be alleviated by the Pill, as you know. But in your mom's case, it may take your doctor's recommendation for her to be okay with it.

So go see your doctor. Have your mom sit with you during the exam. If you need a pelvic exam, having your mom around may actually calm you down (it can be nerve-racking if you've never had one before). Tell your doctor -- with your mom present -- what kind of symptoms you have. Describe the severity of the pain. Discuss ALL your options for treatment including stronger painkillers as well as birth control pills. Let your mom ask your doctor questions, too.

I have been on the Pill since I was 17 because, too, had some problems with my period. Getting the Pill has been a total godsend!

You may need to go to a gynecologist and be checked for pollups, fibroids, or tumors that naturally develop within the uterus. These are often culprits of painful periods (dysmennorhea) and heavy bleeding!

I wouldn't tinker with birth control so much...the hormones could make things worse...

Be straight with your mother and tell her the problems you're having with your cycle, or to hell with her! Get to a doctor on your own--

I would be honest with her. If you and your boyfriend plan on having sex or if now that you are on the pill you might ,then that could be an issue. If its purly for cramping hopefully your mom knows you well enough to believe you.

Tell them exactly what you wrote here. You can also ask a Doctor to explain it to them. If you want the pill your gonna have to get a script from a Doctor anyway.

Be honest. If not, just go to your local planned parenthood (should be free for you) and get a prescription yourself.
