"No One Here Gets Out Alive" by Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugerman

This book is the biography of Jim Morrison. It is one of the best biographies of any rock star. It talks about how they had to work to get famous. It wasn't an overnight success like the movie has shown.

Frank Zappa's autobiography: "The Real Frank Zappa Book"
http://www.amazon.com/Real-Frank-Zappa-Book/dp/0671705725/sr=1-1/qid=1156870508/ref=sr_1_1/104-9679655-2254358?ie=UTF8&s=books
Remember, Zappa was in a touring band during the 60's, 70's, and 80's. There is a part dedicated to stories from the road, and it's otherwise funny and interesting.

Or, if you're into the Doors, you can read Riders on the Storm by John Densmore, the drummer.
