If the Hurricane and subsequent floods that killed 2000 to 3000 and left many more injured, homeless and hungry were in stead killed by terrorists would the relief response been faster or better? On the night that the Hurricane struck New Orleans Bush was playing a guittar at an event in Texas. Well, then again, he was reading my pet goat when 2 planes struck the World Trade. When he was informed that the country was under attack...he kept reading My Pet Goat. So I guess Bush doesnt really care about anyone.

The day after the hurricane the Governor of Louisiana and the Mayor of New Orleans held a conference call with the White House. They were asked what help was needed and they replied that they had a handle on things. They were then asked about the levees that the Army Corps were nervous would fail. Blanco turned and talked to one of her advisors who said he was informed that the levees were not in danger of breeching. Nagin also affirmed his confidence in the Levee Commissions' opinion that the levees would hold. During that sonference the levee's began to breech.

On August 26, two days before the hurricane, Mississippi activated their National Guard to help evacuate and prepare for the impending disaster. It wasn't until after New Orleans flooded, three days after Katrina, that Blanco declared a disaster area and the Louisiana National Guard was activated.

Nagin waited until 24 hours before the hurricane was expected to hit before he declared a mandatory evacuation. It was only then that he discovered he didn't have the resources to complete the task.

The federal government is prohibited by the constitution from running state and local governments, even after it became glaringly obvious that Blance and Nagin were incompetent.

So the 1600 deaths that occurred in NO due to flooding sit squarely on the shoulders of Nagion and Blanco.

Obviously your a Bush fan :-)
He was reading to kids when the plane struck. It was reported to him but the details were that it was a small craft and no one thought terrorist attack. What should he have done?
As for Katrina, instead of being faster and throwing money maybe they should slow down and make people accountable for the dollars going to that region. I feel as bad as the next person does for the people down there but why do you expect that the government has aircraft loaded with supplies sitting on runways throughout the world just waiting for disasters to strike. Times like these call for both public and private support (of which there has been much).

The President called the mayor of new Orleans and begged him to force evacuations. The mayor should be brought up on charges. The people of New Orleans knew they were below sea level, they also knew this was a Cat 5 coming in. People need to take some responsibility. If they are that GD stupid, then we need to pull all their rights from them and make them official slaves of the state. They can rebuild their own city. I am sick to death of hearing about the poor people in New Orleans. What about the people of Biloxi? The storm Missed New Orleans. They were impacted by their own state corruption.

Ever hear of The Posse Comitatus Act? Only if Ray "School Bus" Negan, and Kathleen Blanco Got their heads out. Remember in the USA The President can only send in the Army if the Govenor of the state approves. Without the ability to send in the Army what difference would it have made where he was or what he was doing?

If they were rich White executives in tall downtown towers than yes. Under Dubya poverty has gone up every year and the divide between haves and have nots continues to rise. Bush doesn't care about anyone whose not part of his base and even then its caring only to his political advantage. Look at how Bush and Co. have exploited 9/11 to pass all of there fascist reforms to give the government unprecidented power of the lives of it's citizens. He will go down as one of the shameful president in U.S. history. If they could have gotten away with I'm sure they would have said terrorists blew the dams.

Sad thing is that unless it directly effects the government they don't move quick on anything but hiding the truth. There are people who still haven't recieved the money that was promised after the lose of love ones in September 11. Our government just likes passing the buck so they won't stop with Katrina it will contuie as long as we allow it.

Let me ask you something. How many DAYS notice were these people given to GET OUT?

How many days notice?

And how many chose to continue sitting on their front porches knowing full well a hurricaine was coming RIGHT at them? How many?

So these people who chose NOT TO HELP THEMSELVES are now "victims?"

Seriously????

Yea, as usual, it's ALL Bush's fault that he wasn't down there holding each of their hands and helping them pack bags, then personally dragging them to higher ground. Let's just blame this ALL on Bush. God forbid these Katrina people take ANY responsibility for themselves or the predicament they found themselves in because they didn't care enough to help THEMSELVES. I guess it's everyone else's responsibility, right?

The ignorant would much rather blame Bush. Guess it's his fault the hurricaine happened in the first place as well, right?

What an embarrassment this society has become. No one wants to be accountable for THEMSELVES; no, it's much easier pointing the finger of blame at anyone else but ourselves.

Bush had the oppurtunity to capitalize on the tragedy in NOLA as he did and does in NY but he couldn't figure out how to blame terrorist.

He should have proclaimed it was an act of Allah!
