I'd have to say Progressive rock. I've always compared pop songs to a good sitcom episode on TV where you see it a few times, enjoy it, and then don't care to see it again; where as a prog rock song is like a good epic movie, lots of changes, surprises, complex structures, it never loses its appeal; but that's just my preference (R&B is good too, especially when you're in the mood for some good lovin')

Though the blues and R&B would run a close second...and..
Marvin Gaye? Was a freakin' GENIUS...not just his voice but his (own) orchestrations and vision and song writing and most wonderful bright light of unique self. HE I really did enjoy and is truly missed...his music speaks for itself though and is lasting.
