Depends on your learning regime and what song you wanna play. Learning tips: Practice every day even if it for 30 per day. I used to hit it for 15 hours a session at my best but any amount of time spent every day is great. Dont expect too much too soon. Go with what your teacher says but use your head and stay on top. Learn the basics first. Its not uncommon for your first song to be a nursery rhyme or something. Make sure he doesnt hit you with something thats too hard for you. You gotta condition the muscles and tendons in your hand to play the hard fast stretchy stuff before you try to get into that kind of music. Peace.

With a teacher you should be able to play a song decently soon. The key to learning a musical instrument is practice. The more time you put into playing the faster and better you will become. I suggest an hour a day at least of practice. A good teacher will give you assignments to master to meet or go just above your skill level.

U must to learn the main chords(like A, E, F, etc. - U know...) 4 beginning, & more train your left hand to run from one chord to other to increase the playing speed. Good luck in playing!
