Very often, the groin is a common site for cists which are abnormal sac in the body, filled with a fluid or semisolid and enclosed in a membrane. Cysts can be congenital but are usually acquired, the most common locations being the skin and the ovaries. Sebaceous cysts of the skin, known as blackheads or whiteheads, occur when dirt or other material blocks the oil glands of the skin, preventing secretions from escaping. Retention cysts develop in glandular organs when ducts are blocked, commonly in kidney tubules, mammary glands, and sweat glands. Most cysts can be aspirated for treatment and/or cytology (diagnostic purposes); often cysts require surgical removal. However, one should have a physician check it out.

Look into inguinal hernia.

An inguinal hernia occurs when tissue or part of the intestine pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall in the groin area, causing a bulge in the groin or scrotum.

thanks gremlin...just a guess from what info was given...best to go have it checked as others have mentioned. it doesn't have to hurt for it to be harmful...but don't worry about it until the doctor says otherwise. Try to have the doctor do the nut-press and cough (might as well be in a clinic just in case)

reminds me of a 'Friends' episode--try very hard not to lift anything heavy.

Go to a Dr. just to be sure- my friends Mom recently had a similar thing, and she had stage 3 cancer, had surgery and chemo right away. Have it checked, for peace of mind.

endrshadow is right. It could be inguinal hernia. Why don't you try to cough and see if it pushes outward. Make the appointment as soon as possible. Don't wait, it may restrict your blood circulation.

If it stays there, does not go away it is probably a hernia. Don't get all worried about it, but do have a dr. check it out relatively soon.
