There are several, each with variations.

The biggest factor is who gets to make the daily decisions, and who gets to decide who that is.

At one end, a pure Democracy is where everyone votes or comes to a consensus, and everyone is potentially involved in every issue. A representative Republic is where everyone gets together and chooses someone to make decisions for them.

An Oligarchy is where the decision making power is held by a few, comparable to a republic, but where those few are not chosen by the general populace. The criteria for being among the ruling class may be wealth, or race, or some other factor.

Finally, a dictatorship or monarchy is where one person holds all decision making power, and the general populace has no say in who that person is. This includes military dictatorships, tyrannies, or hereditary monarchies.

Within each of these, there is also the spectrum of how much the decision makers care about the populace (or the minority, for the democracy and republic). This can run the full range of benevolent respect, where people have broad personal liberties, to fascism where people have no freedoms.

Finally, independent of both of these spectrums is a third angle, which determines the economic form of the government. At one end is capitalism, where everything is owned by the individual. Then through socialism, which has various forms of govt ownership of property or resources and greater social programs like welfare. At the other end is communism, where the govt owns everything and hands out to the people what it decides to.

So, three spectrums -- who makes the decisions, how much freedom is available to those aren't in power, and how money/property is handled. Mix and match to your heart's content.
