Most people who claim to be Ghost Hunters..ones that I know of..are just regular people. Some are professionals in Theology-the study of religion, psychology, geologists, historians or maybe just a professional photographer, or have a degree in electronics. But a lot of them are just everyday people. What usually drives a person to be a ghost hunter is they have had something happen to them (a haunting) and they are trying to find answers. Most try to be scientific about it...a lot go out to debunk a haunting by finding electrical fluxes, squeaky boards, loose wiring, and sometimes they just can't find any reason for whatever is happening. They aren't crazy, but they are considered experts because they have seen much more than the average person who maybe has never seen anything. I've seen and heard some strange things that can't be explained..like a recording of a man's voice where no men were present. What is it? I don't know...but I hope that one day we'll find either a scientific or a spiritual answer to it. An answer is an answer...better than never knowing. Its a need to know, a need to learn that drives people to do certain things..underneath there is usually a reason behind the need.

I asked a similar question a while back and only got silly answers.
I think ghost hunters are regular people with equipment you can buy at spy stores. Maybe some are seers. And yes some are professionals but how they got professional, I don't know.

They are probably hard to find, like Exorcists, witch doctors, psychics, voo-doo experts, etc....

Sounds to me as though they would be serious hobbies until they could find someone to pay for their services, possibly government grants, you know like FEMA....
