Both will kill you dead.

It is not the Voltage that kills you, it is the Amperage.

While they both use a primary circuit voltage in the 5kV-30kV or higher range the Jacobs ladder requires a higher Amperage.

The secondary of a Tesla coil will attain voltages in the range of 100MV on up with very little Amperage.

For more information on the construction and safety of either, go to: http://www.eskimo.com/~billb/tesla/tesla.html

On another note, Tesla coils produce white noise in the radio frequency spectrum. This is a major violation of the Patriot Act in that it can interfere with aircraft radio communications.

Probably a Tesla coil, but only by a little bit. A Jacobs Ladder has to be able to supply enough current to maintain ionization of the arc over longer and longer distances and it's usually *more* than enough to be lethal.

The Tesla coil usually won't supply more than a few µA on the secondary side. But the primary side may still be dangerous.

Be careful around either of them.

It depends on the voltage. A Jacob's Ladder can be generated using just 120vac. I don't know about a Tesla Coil.

A ladder from heaven to earth that Jacob saw with angels going up and down. The story is in Genesis, but I don't know which chapter. 20's or 30's?

According to the safety Manuel it is the current that will kill. 100 To 200 ma. will kill ,this through the chest cavity will kill. You may decrease the danger with resistors in series to limit the current to less than 40 ma. that is what the teaser the police use . Be careful at there voltages it can arc across your resistors.
Be careful good luck

go with jacobs ladder....it might not kill you..........a tesla coil on the other hand....well you know how much power he liked to use.
