I'm at work and about 3 hours ago they poured bleach in the A/C unit. The whole office STILL reeks of it. I'm 11 weeks pregnant. Is this safe? Should I go home???? If so, what do I say to my boss?

They already know I'm pregnant which is one reason I'm irritated that they bothered to do this on a week day...

Just FYI. I told my boss it was making me sick. She agreed w/ me and sent me home.

LOL - missionhtg. I agree. I don't think that's what they meant when they said "Use in a well ventilated area".

I was told as long as the area was well ventilated it was ok, but if it is coming through the VENTILATION SYSTEM----then what the heck? It doesn't sound like its good for anybody to be in there!! You should definitely call your doctor's office ASAP & ask them.

Call your OB's office and check with the nurse to be sure,I don't think the odor will hurt the baby. However, if it is making you sick or bothering you (sometimes smells do that when you are pregnant) I would tell your boss that the bleach smell is making you sick and can you work from home for the rest of the day. No need to break the big news yet.

Call your OB's office. That way when they tell you to leave, if your boss has a problem, they can fax him something. Then you've covered your bases. I was told while pregnant to not use bleach & to make sure my bathroom is very well ventilated while I clean it. Good luck.

Toxic fumes of any kind aren't safe-pregnancy or no pregnancy.

I would tell your boss the fumes aren't good for you and your baby and see what they have to offer-sit by an open window, leave until the fumes clear, or take the day off. If they chose nothing, then call your Dr and have them call your boss.

Talk to your boss if you feel you should go home because you are pregnant I'm sure he won't object to it. Hopefully they will call in a company to clean out the a/c unit so fresh air will blow out of it.

I don't know, probably isn't good for anyone. I would just tell your boss you aren't feeling well and go home.
