Don't want to go to another baby shower for her!!?

I need help getting thru this day, or can I avoid it this time.
I cannot have kids and my sister inlaw is on her 5th although i worked thru that, my niece wanted me to help organize another one of these baby showers(the 3rd ive done for the sis) but this time i just cant deal with going to it, i've helped organize, but i don't want to go to it, and now hearing her say how she's just so excited about this shower is getting on my nerves, i know it's probably wrong but i just want to tell her,"cut the drama its not like its your first baby shower, even i'm bored going to YOUR showers" Help!

Its understandable that you feel like a grouchy troll over this, but don't let it show to anyone else.

Just tell people, "I've reallly enjoyed organizing this shower, but unfortunately I'm not going to be able to be there."

If you really have to explain you could say that since you have the issue with not being able to have children, although you're dealing with that ok, there is a point where attending baby showers just makes you feel sad when you otherwise are pretty ok with your situation. You could say that you've put your issues aside in the past, but, for some reason, as time has gone on without your having children, its just kind of getting a little worse for you.

There is nothing wrong with a baby shower,i believe that maybe there are age differences and things are needed for the new baby no matter which number child it is.I don't mean to be offensive but you not being able to have children of your own is causing hard and hurtful feelings due to being jealous of the fact the your sister in law is apparently very fertile when it comes to getting pregnant.You should be thrilled,this is your own brother's children,which your blood runs threw them as well,you are their aunt.However if you are dead set against this whole factor,then you need to remove yourself from your brother and his family,because if having a baby shower because this is number five and causing you to have frustrating feelings towards her and the showers,then how can you go around them with the true love of a aunt? Deep down i believe you really want to be happy for them,but at the same time you are bitter,and this is something that only you can resolve within yourself.I am sorry that you can not have children,and i don't know the medical reason's for this,but keep trying,when one door closes another one will open and there are alot of kids out in this world that need good homes with good parents as yourself,Just a thought for you,but i hope you can over come your feelings,life is way to short to begrudge someone for something in this nature.I wish you the best and again i hope i did not offend you in any way shape or form.Good Luck!

Some people feel you should only get a shower for the first child anyways. I know exactly how you feel, i'm going through the same thing with my sister in law. I just politely told the person planning it, that unfortunatley i'm unable to help out this time and stand firm. You don't need to go into details why. You're not being mean by doing that, sometimes you need to worry about your feelings more than everyone elses. In the end, they'll get over it.
