Lights, hazards, and blinkers still work, just no brake lights when brake pedal is pushed. I have checked fuses, in cab they are good, under the hood there is a brake lamp relay and a fuse labeled stop/haz, but it is a bigger fuse, they are both missing. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Behind the brake pedal is a brake switch. That may be your problem. It's usually very inexpensive at Auto Zone and very easy to change. Hope this helps.

Chronic problem in suburbans and c-k model trucks. You've most likely lost your ground. Take a wire and touch one end to the outside of the bulb's socket, on the metal. touch the other end to a piece of the car's metal (make sure you have a good contact, you may have to scrape away a little paint in an inconspicuous spot). Have someone hit tthe brakes for you while you hold the wire. If it works, remove the bulb and tuck the end of the wire into the socket just far enough so it will stay in when you replace the bulb, but NOT far enough that it touches the contacts at the bottom of the socket. Attach the other end to a metal part of the truck. If it does not work, and bulbs are all new, only then would I spend the money on a relay. You didn't mention if you ever had them working, so I assumed they worked and the just quit. That should do it. Good luck!!

Believe it or not, my 99 had the same problem. I pulled the brake light housings and when I went to replace the bulbs, the light housing where the bulb actually plugs in was filled with hardened grease. It was put there when it was new and I guess it finally stopped the lights. I had to clean all of it out, take a pick and tighten the electrical fittings, put all new bulbs in and it worked. I hope your problem is that simple, but that is a good place to start looking. Good luck!

I assume you mean the switch at the brake pedal. You may have replaced the switch but the switch position must be adjusted to make contact when the brake is depressed with the engine running and break contact when the brake is released.

its might be the electrical wires which connect them.

also the fuse you might be using is more powerful , (in other words they will work fine for the lights but not for the brake lights). take it to a auto parts store and have one of the person there check the tolerance of the fuse against the lights.

it's your brake light switch. it's around 15 bucks and it's under the dash on the brake pedal. It's not that hard to fix, it's just the clip is hard to get off and put back on. I have a 95 chevy and it took me 10 minutes to repair
