well there are only a couple of things, what i have seen is the switch goes bad most of the time, but do the usuall check, fuse and then start checking electrical at the swith and then check the switching valve. get a manual or go to the library and get the diagram for it as it will help alot, oh and so will a decent test light

this vehicle has what is called a switching valve on it,,it has probably went out on it,,i have a 79 Chevy that has it also,,and the switching valve went out on it this knocks the other tank out on it,,and will not allow them to switch over,,you,ll need to check the fuses for it,,and if they check good you need to replace the valve on it,,its located under the truck between the two tanks,,i own a repair shop,,and do this all the time,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.
