I'm a 17-year-old girl, and I've been liking a guy who's one year older than me, who also went to my school. I've kept this as a secret for 3 years, because we have become REALLY good friends and we've worked on many projects and participated in many political activities together. My friends have suggested that we two should be together, but I've always insisted that I have too much admiration and respect for his achievements, so that it seems impossible to go beyond "regular friends" (Even though I wish that's not the case).

So after he graduated high school this summer, I dropped him an email and confessed to him my feelings, and I just asked him "if we can continue to be friends." He replied saying that he wanted to ask me to prom, but didn't have the nerve. He also said that after he settles down for university, maybe we could go see a movie together.

So what does that mean? I'm unsure if he's really interested in me, or is he offering this just for pity???????????

And another thing that I'm worried about is that I'm not good enough for him. I mean, he is probably one of the most amazing young politicians of his age in the country, and his possibilities are endless. I've always thought that I'm not good enough for him, and I believe that he deserves someone better 'cuz chances are, he'll meet a lot more amazing people in university. That's why I'm so confused about whether I should accept the invitation or not......(even though I REALLY want to)

Sounds like he really likes you and could be a good guy for you. I think you both have the same feelings for each other. He seems to also respect you and that is very important in any relationship. Allow your self to have an open mind and don't keep yourself from something special.

I dont think it was out of pitty think about it...he said he wanted to ask you to prom but didnt have the nerve tooo.....probably thinking like you were thinking that you might not be interested in him like that and would turn him down. I think he's interested in possibly working on being more than friends. I dont think he would be trying to take you out if not.... Just go with the flow if you are still interested in him see where it goes...You really dont have nothing to lose you all are already friends.and it could grow into more than that if you take that risk and try

I think he is interested but not fully committed to the relationship. Going to a movie is a good way to see if the relationship can evolve into something deeper. Maybe he is being cautious because of the letter you sent.

My guess is that he probably likes you. He even said he wanted to ask you to prom but didn't have the nerve.
