I need you guys to help me again!!! I just sold an item on Ebay yesterday. I have a Paypal acct. How long do I wait for the buyer to pay for the item? I was told they should pay as soon as the auction closes. Someone else told me they have seven days. Can anyone help? Thanks!!

This was my first time selling. I did not specify any payment due time. I didn't know I had to. Ithought once the auction closed, the buyer atutomatically paid through Paypal. Whoops!!

First of all, make sure you've sent your winning buyer an invoice via ebay (follow the link from your listing). Allow the buyer 7 days to pay, and if you haven't heard anything, send a polite email to chase them. If you've heard nothing from them 14 days after the close of the auction, use ebay Help pages to register a 'non payment' complaint. If you still don't get the money out of the buyer, ebay will refund your listing and final valuation fees so you won't be out of pocket.
Good luck!

From the ebay online Help:
Sellers can report an Unpaid Item up to 45 days after the transaction date (i.e. the date when the buyer commits to buying the item and the seller commits to selling it). Usually the seller must wait 7 days after a listing closes to file an Unpaid Item Dispute. However, in the following exceptional cases, the seller can file a dispute immediately:
At the time of the filing the buyer is no longer a registered user of eBay.
The seller and buyer wish to mutually withdraw from the transaction.
In the first case the buyer will receive an Unpaid Item strike and the seller will receive a Final Value Fee credit without any additional steps.
In the second case the seller must file the dispute for mutual withdrawal. If the buyer responds to the dispute and agrees, the seller will receive a Final Value Fee credit and no strike will be given to the buyer. If the buyer fails to respond, the seller can still close the dispute to receive a Final Value Fee credit, and the buyer will not receive an Unpaid Item strike.

Ebays policy states that seven days is usually the limit for payment to be made. Most people will pay automatically - give them three days and then send out another invoice - if that doesn't work after seven days THREATEN that you are giving them one more chance to pay - like 24 hours - then you are going to relist the item and take appropriate action (that involves filing a non-paying bidder complaint and posting negative feedback). It works everytime! Good luck and have a little patience! Also make sure to clearly state your payment terms in your auction listing.

it depends what YOU specified in your listing as when payment is due
I say payment due withing 5 days of listing ending
Or for time sensitive concert tickets.. payment due at auction end/24 hours or the buyer will get negative FB and I will file a dispute
go to eBay Help area and look up when you can file a dispute for non paying bidder
