Talk to your doctor. If you are having regular contractions and dialted enough he maybe able to induce you by Friday. You due date could be off as much as a month, so if you haven't had the baby within a week, I would press your doc to induce.

I was 5 days overdue when they induced me. I wouldn't say it is the nicest experience ever. I tried everything to get started, especially Raspberry leaf tea, which is supposed to start contractions. It's quite tasty and better for you than caffeine in normal tea and coffee so can't do any harm to try. Like I said though, it didn't work for me but I was prepared to try anything to stop them inducing me. Baby will come when it's ready, if there is no medical reason to be induced, ie high blood pressure, protein in urine, I would wait. You just have to hope that baby doesn't get too big!! Good luck, it will be worth the wait.

Most research recommends that uncomplicated pregnancy doesn't go beyond 42 weeks - that's two weeks after your due date. After this time the placenta can begin to degenerate and not function as well as it should. However it still remains your choice and some women opt for regular assessments of their baby's well-being until labour begins naturally. Unnecessary and early induction of labour can predispose you to the need for further medical interventions and increase your risk of the need for Cesarean section. Try not to worry too much about labour starting as one thing we do know is that if you're anxious about your labour starting - it won't!!! Try some natural methods of induction such as regular gentle excercise to encourage the decent of your baby into the pelvis, breast and nipple stimulation to encourage the release of Oxytocin, ( the labour hormone), and if you can bear it, good old -fashioned sex! If you are induced they may start by inserting a special gel into your vagina which is a synthetic form of a substance found in semen! But for now enjoy your pregnancy and your time without nappies, feeds and disturbed sleep! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feeling rough huh? I know how you feel, was a little overdue myself. They can induce you but I gotta tell you the stuff they give you makes it hurt worse than if you let the little one stay as long as they need to.
If you don't have anything like high blood pressure, kidney infection, or your cervex is not ripe, then wait until God says okay.
It is really rotten to feel so tired and have to be so uncomfortable, but it ain't time yet.
You want to be done and over with, don't you and your tired of having to pee or feel like you do every 10 minutes. and you want to see your shoes again. You will, never fear it will happen, and it will be easier if you let God decide when to make a birthday.

depends on your doctor/midwife and the size of your baby. My sister was left to go 11 days over with her first boy who was7lb9oz, and they talked about inducing my a couple of days after my due date if I hadn't had him because he was a big baby (he came 4 days early and weighed 8lb13oz)
You could ask your midwife to do a sweep, which is sort of inducing but without the drugs. (this was also talked about at the end of my pregnancy)
In the meantime, go for long walks if you can, this helps a lot.

I was induced at 38 weeks but had to agree and have an amniocentesis first to make sure my daughters lungs were fully developed. They were. Try to go into labor naturally, if at all possible. The intensity of labor pain increases with the medication used.

My doctor is the one who decided that for me. He induced my labor 6 days after my due date. He just examined me and made sure the baby was ready, told me I would probably have her over that weekend, but if I didn't he said he would see me the following Monday morning and induce, so that's what happened!
Good Luck to you!
