Hi,

I've recently taken my GRE and got a score of 1360 (V 580 + Q 780). And an AWA score of 6.0. My brief profile is as follows:

B.Tech in ECE
Aggregate as of now: 79%
Topper's % in my University(JNTU, Hyderabad, India): around 89%
My achievements profile is the best in my college, I've done many activities... that separate me from the rest of the students...

University Topper in the subject of Electronics in my First Year
Won four National Level Paper Presentations
Won a National Level competition for the best innovative idea regarding the concept of a website
Been the Chief Editor of the first Technical Magazine of our college

I can get hopefully nice recommendation letters from my professors. I'll try to get even from the Principal and the Dean.

I'm actually confused with all the university selection process. I'm not able to decide which universities to apply. Currectly I'm planning to apply for around 10-12. I'm planning to take Electricals as my MS field and maybe more precisely Computer Networks under that or Telecommunications. Here's the list I've gathered:

Ohio State University, Columbus
University of Sincinatti
Arizona State University, Phoenux
University of Texas, Dallas
North Carolina State University, Raleigh
Purdiu University, Indianapolis
Iowa State University
University of Southern California, Los Angeles
West Virginia
University of Utah, Salt Lake City
Clempson University
University of Florida
Cornigie Melon

Are there any universities in which I can get full aid? What is the significance of this AWA score? Does my 6.0 help me atleast 2-5% in the admission process?

This is my first post here, so I apologise if I posted anything wrong.

Thank You so much for your time.

Select the ten top "dream employers" that you could work for in the future, contact them and ask them which university they like the most and the qualifications they look for from anyone applying for that position. Who else's opinions matter more???

The best way to decide is to go the university's website and learn about the research activities carried out by the professors at the university. Find research projects which match your interest and contact the professor(s). If a professor is interested in you based on your credentials and achievements, he might help you, not only for the admission to the university, but might also by offering you some type of financial support/aid.

All the universities you mentioned in you questions are reputable universities. There is no problem regarding the accreditation. Carnegie Melon is best know for its computer engineering and computer sciences. The electrical engineering departments of the Ohio State U., Purdue and UCLA are considered top-notch, so the competion, especially for financial aid, is very very competitive.

By the way, based on your achievements you described, I think you would get admission letter from most, if not all, of the universities you mentioned if you submit your admission application (complete with all the requirements) within the admission dateline. The only question is whether you could get financial aid offer.

Once again....contact the professor(s).....he/she plays the most important role in helping you with financial aid....most probably in forms of research assistantship or teaching assistanship (full-time, half-time or a quarter-time).

If you don't get financial aid offer at the beginning, there is always a chance (a bigger one in fact) once you are already there. Just show them what you are capable of and talk to the professors.

By the way check the spelling for "University of Sincinatti"

Since you have listed 13 universities. I think you should study each one on line. Find out about them and the courses that you can take. This will give you some idea as to where you stand where you want to go.

It will not hurt to apply to all, if they have the courses that you can study and are of interest to you.

Your GRE rankings are no longer something to gloat approximately. a minimum of your undergrad GPA is a B well-known, in keeping with risk sufficient to get into much less-aggressive faculties. you're no longer an astonishing student - you're somewhat grad college high quality, so do no longer overestimate your skills as is so overwhelmingly elementary between Indian scholars. you may do away with suitable aggressive faculties out of your record here. in keeping with risk North Carolina State, in keeping with risk Arizona State. U California campuses are very surprisingly aggressive, so is U Texas, Colorado at Boulder, Penn State, and your grades and verify out rankings are no longer sturdy sufficient. In worldwide opposition for grad college, you're mediocre at suitable. you are going to be able to desire to be interior the right 10% international (above ninetieth percentile), and you needless to say are no longer.

I spoke with the Dean of Engineering from my city university and he communicated that "ABET" certification was important. Be sure to ask about certification and accreditation for any school. He checked the accreditation website and helped me narrow my choices to one. The other school that I was considering was accredited but not by ABET so he recommended that I attend the school that was ABET accredited.
