That makes for a pretty long rod to support. You can also use a piece of pipe, it will be more rigid, but I suggest putting in some mid span supports. You can also do this with shorter rods and just lap them on the mid supports you put in, if you don't want to use pipe.

You can have one cut to size at home depot or buy a pole there and cut it yourself.
