Best ERP System
What is the best ERP system ?
Oracle
SAP
PeopleSoft (now part of Oracle)
Baan (now part of SSA)
JD Edwards (now part of Oracle)
Siebel (now part of Oracle)
SSA

All those system are very good systems.

The best ERP system is the one that covers the needs of the customer, with the lowest costs... There is no clear winner yet.

You should have a look to Yahoo or Google Finance.
Search for the Symbol ORCL. You will have a much better view of the market.

When I was at a dot.bomb, we had SAP and Siebel, Siebel was for the phone reps and sales people, and you had to update to SAP all the time to make sure you were in sync. Siebel was really easy to use for what it is. SAP we used to call Stops All Profits. If you are going to have SAP, you will have to get used to having large numbers of very expensive consultants around, long-term. The code is all proprietary and the comments are in German, so its a very long learning curve.

My current company uses Oracle and PeopleSoft, and its a bit slow sometimes, but a lot easier to work on. However, the finance department refused to convert to PeopleSoft financial module, so we are keeping our Lawson also and trying to integrate.

Thats definitely something to keep in mind, how flexible, how easy to customize, how easy for in-house people to do the maintenance..

Oh, it also matters what you are doing -- SAP was developed for companies that make stuff and have warehouses (forgetting the term). If you are in a service industry, its not really worth the cost, imo

Siebel is the best when it comes to Usability.A novice can start using siebel in no time. Also its very easy to build applications.Siebel does provide lot of out of box solutions.

SAP User interface is very compliated .I used SAP in my earlier company for submitting HR requests like Leave , Expense claim and it was a nightmare

I will go with SIEBEL

Best for what? SAP sucks; I'd go with Oracle/PeopleSoft.
