those are eh, ok.....
better yet.. want some live action war with explosions, bodies flinging all over the place and building going down in a blaze with a huge fighter jet smashing into it. (now that whey money went down big time) there's real action, real stunt people, real machinery blowing up...
music by jerry goldsmith.
'tora, tora, tora' 1974 i think.
it's slow but when the attack begins it just keeps building up and up and up.. i'm amazed how bad *** some movies were before all this computerization... i can't believe producers could have afforded all that destruction.
great movie, get a bong some beer... use surround sound, get the restored version on DVD and pump it up when the action hits.
there's other old movies that blow it up sky high i can't recall them at the moment.
yeh it's an old timer thing but i forgot how f'ing wonderful that piece is.
all that exploding and ships, planes buildings going down and it's not models, it's not toys or props. it's all declassified stuff, retired military machinery that had to go.. and the people who made the movie bought it all up and well blew it all up also.
great fun, wish i was a producer back in the 70s when pyrotechs and 'effects' folks were getting big time.

It really depends because they are movies with 2 diiferent point of views.Jarhead is a movie about the side of war that has nothing to do with combat, the mental aspect.Blackhawk down is a strait bioic about a strait battle. From a film making point of view Jarhead is a better film, though it is panned by people who went to see it expecting blood-lust.

My opinion is both, I liked both because they were different times of war based movies.
