People who like Sudoku, like it because they like puzzles. Puzzles are good because if you make a habit of trying to solve them they can prevent the onset of dementia and other memory related problems.
The brain is a lot like the muscle, if you don't challenge it on a regular basis it starts to weaken.

I think it's to keep reminding me that I still suck at maths. Just like in school, I'm a terrible failure at it. I get excited when I think I've gotten a column right, then I want to throw the book when I realize it doesn't work. I think the same guy who invented the Rubic's Cube flattened it out onto paper just to drive us all crazy.

People have different ways of thinking. What is not entertaining to you, can be entertaining to someone else. I love puzzle games like that. They keep me busy, and the wheels in my mind spinning. That is the kind of entertainment I like. But you may prefer something else.

I don't like them but yeah same reason we have computer games, crosswords, puzzles, anything that provides short time entertainment for the sole purpose of self satisfaction.

You could ask what's the point of crosswords, soccer, chess, skipping, solitaire. It's a game. If people like doing it, why not?
