SUre u could if u know the largest size he might get. Small aquarium is more EZ 2 decorate & it makes fishie happy 2 swim across all the pretty surroundings. But I also suggest a few things:
1. DOn't get that tiny aquarium. Fish needs a space 2 swim & enough oxygen supply in the water. Natural is the best, that means no equipment.
2. U might wanna think about geting another fish with him. (if its' a "him", then get a "her"). Fish likes companies.
thanx, louisa

Bigger is always better. You gave no clear information, but from what you said my answer is no. Clown triggers are large, powerful, and aggressive fish that will need a tank of over 100 gallons, which is by now means a small tank. They will most likely not be able to be kept with other tankmates, as they are so aggressive and will kill any other fish. I know someone who was bitten by a clown trigger while having his arm on a tank at a local fish store.
If you keep a fish in a small tank thinking that he will grow no bigger than his environment, than you are a very ignorant fish keeper. This only stunts the fish, and screws up it's internal organs causing the fish to die prematurely. Anyone who thinks this way is especially not ready for saltwater. I suggest you hit the books and research more. I suggest Robert Fenner's "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist."

The size of the tank limiting the adult size of the fish is a myth. It'll stunt his growth to be sure but won't stop him from growing. Clown triggers are beautiful and (at least in my area expensive) fish. They will reach about 15 inches in an aquarium. When it is an adult you will need at least a 180 gallon tank for him. Do you have space for that? Can your floor hold that kind of weight? Keep in mind that as they reach adulthood Clown triggers usually get more aggressive and cannot be kept with other livestock. They have been known to one day go ballistic and kill everything else in the tank. So, you'll probably have to dedicate the tank just to the trigger.
The short answer is that a small tank is only temporary while it is small. Be sure you can provide for this fish. It is not fair to remove them from the ocean to stick them in a tiny glass box where they cannot swim easily and where wastes build up quickly.

Clown triggers grow to over a foot long and will require a tank of over 100 gallons to survive. By small aquarium I assume you mean lees then 30 gallons which will never do. If your tank is a little larger he may survive for a time and you could trade it in for a smaller on as it grows too large. They can be very aggressive to other fish and will probably rearrange your tank daily. If your tank is too small, it will probably cause a great deal of harm to anything else in it.

What size is the aquarium, and is there any other stock in the aquarium? Also, bear in mind that it is much harder to regulate the salinity in smaller tanks than it is in larger ones...
