The universe has conspired to let loose a horde of idiots upon me. I need to know there are those present who haven't let their brains atrophy. Humor is fine; humor and intelligence are not mutually exclusive

SVGirl: you're quite wrong. 20 years ago maybe - not now. I'd rather have the smarts; the parts are all the same

Thank you all for your input. Some have made my point, some have missed it completely, but all have made me smile - and that's all I really wanted anyway

Ohhh shu up cutie man...lol...
NOW I KNOW: If you had two gals in the room and one was a plain jane who was intellectualizing the state of the universe and following that up with the most interesting & humorous commentary the world has ever heard...and the other was standing there big-boobed beautiful and blonde as all get out....(but could not articulate past her first name - aka an idiot)....You'd be on a first name basis with da idiot right quick...the other miss...ummm..."what's her name"...would be talkin' to herself.

But I will agree with you YES..this world sure is full of idiots. ; -)
Try to be amused by some of them...

Oh I agree. I love your statement, however I do think that humor and intelligence can coincide with one another. Like myself for example, I am a pretty funny girl, but also know when it is appropriate and when it isn't. (Side note I look up a new word in the dictionary everyday, thus helping my vocabulary, and making me sound intelligent.) Now if only everyone could do this many problems could be resolved, and you wouldn't have to put up with as many idiots either. Good Luck finding your intelligence. Hey....thanks for the laugh.

Well the current thinking in astronomy is that magnetism plays a stronger role in the universe than first thought, so a mathematical study on a magnetism based Universe is underway to see what eqations and probabilities crop up!
You see gravity is a weak force you can jump counter acting gravity, imagine if the earth was a magnet and you were made of metal you see my point!

did you know that the heart of a blue whale beats only 9 times an hour?

Humor and Intelligence are two independant events and therefore IS mutually exclusive.

Well, then, what would you like for me to say? How about the world is full of self-centered, self-serving politicians who care about nothing but their own agenda, whether or not it is for the good of their country. Or, I could tell you that people who lay on the sand in sun glasses and look silly irritate the heck out of me, but that would be useless, considering that is what your avatar is doing. Or, I could tell you that I have an IQ of 148, but that makes no difference either since you probably think you have one that is higher than that. So, tell me, what should I say?

It must have been extremely hard to get cozy during the 'Stone Age'. Think about it: stone chairs, stone beds, stone footstools, stone dinette tables, stone mattresses, stone carpets... I'm sorry, but there's no possible way to get comfortable reclining on a stone couch... no matter how many stone pillows you might have. I'm just glad we're living in the 'Foam Rubber Age'.... (By the way, as a side note, I'll bet pillow fights ended pretty quickly back then.)

computers use a binary system that has only two symbols. since electronic impulses are either on or not on, a computers logic is based on these two ideas. Using the numeral 1 for impulse and the numeral 0 for lack of impulse, the binary system can be used to build circuits...

You are absolutely correct! I like to play on both sides of the fence, at the same time if possible. There are times when it's all in fun and others when humour is entirely inappropriate!
