I believe that current thought is that it is both, DNA and the prenatal environment.
Genetics plays a big part, but a recent study shows that the environment in the womb of the growing fetus is influential. Men with several older brothers were more likely to be gay. This suggests that maternal hormones may play a part.. or that perhaps the mother made antibodies against a male protein that somehow reacted with the later growing fetus.

People are born "wired" as straight, bi, or gay. If you believe you had a choice in being either straight or gay, then you were born somewhere in the bi range. Straight people can't chose to be gay and more than gay people can chose to be straight. The nature v nuture debate has pretty much been resolve in other areas as both interact on each other with inborn being necessary for the environment to have much of any influence. Why it continues as an either/or for sexual orientation is just silly. Live, learn, observe the world without prejudice. Most answers are there just like the mustard you can't find sitting on the top shelf of your fridge.

If God didn't create diversity, then who did? I knew that I was gay when I was 6 or 7. It couldn't be the environment but I do think the environment does play a role in gay life. I was always surrounded by my Dad's/or Brothers friends. They were older than me and I am with an older man now and always liked how they carried themselves. It's got to be how I was around that kind of atmosphere at an early age. I have never thought of dating/long-term someone my age. Had to be 10 years or more. It might sound sick but, there are a lot of attributes I find in older men that, I find attracting!

I believe people are born gay/lesbian. if it were environmental, most of us would be straight! there are many so-called "environmental/nurture" excuse/reasons that bigots claim are why we "turn" gay or "choose" to be gay. that's a load of crap.
I was born to hetero parents like most of us are, I don't know of anyone else in my family that's openly gay, knew no one growing up that was gay, didn't meet anyone gay until after I realized I was lesbian. also, I was never molested/abused/raped. and all my gay/lesbian friends can pretty much tell you the same story. so, the "environmental" theory is just that....a theory.

Not born gay. Though children are influenced but an innocent choice sometimes. Think man , do you remember everything you done or experienced as a little child.

Chris is right (Gotta love him) this is the boring daily question. Where you born straight, could you choose to be gay? I know you could choose to preform a homosexual act but could you enjoy it, more importantly could you fall in love with a member of your same gender. If you can say yes to this then congrats you are homosexual and yes you where born that way. But if not guess what you are straight (poor fellow) and you where born that way. There are only 6 passages of the bible talking about homosexual acts and they tend to talk only about the act of anal sex. There are over 130 passages that discuss heterosexual acts in the bible. You guys must need more supervision.

From the research I have read and conducted I would say you are 'born gay'. That being said, I think to the extent that one 'acts gay' is correlated to the environment within which they live.

OK, so let's get this right. Straight parents, who obviously control the environment a child is brought up in, only have straight kids. OK. Now, Gay parents obviously have gay kids, wait, scratch that, since bible bumblers keep telling us only straights can have kids, then there should only be straight people, but gays exist so gays must be able to have kids, but you say only straights can have kids, so ............. illogical, illogical, illogical.....please explain......does not compute........ilogical.........
Grow up and get a life, and to all you phony, sanctimonious hypo-christians, stop worrying where my C**K goes and start worrying about your own lives.

YES - you are born gay! Every culture that has ever existed has had homosexuals in the culture. And I can't find any Scripture where Jesus said anything about homosexuality.
