It depends on what you are looking for. Functionality is about the same as QuickBooks Pro. Ease of use is subjective; what seems easier to you may be more difficult for me and vice versa. Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006 sells for $149 vs. $99.95 for QuickBooks Simple Start and $199.95 for QuickBooks Pro. Payroll services that Microsoft offers through its alliance with ADP are downright cheap compared to what Intuit charges for its in-house payroll service.

The biggest difference is going to be your accountant. Quite a few accountants out there streamlined their tax preparation by importing QuickBooks data into TurboTax. So if you use a different accounting package, you are likely to pay more for tax preparation. Check with your accountant and see what they think...

I'm not familiar with the Microsoft Accounting Program for Small Business...I currently use QuickBooks Pro. Thus far I have no complaints.

I have used both and Quickbooks Pro is hands down the better product.

The both accounting products are almost the same,regarding their functions.The price is different and it depend if you are starting a new business or you want to export data from the other accounting program.
