You have to do it every 7 days. At least 3 times. So for a month or so. Set off a flea bomb. Wait seven days..do it again..wait seven days..do it again. Pain in the rear yes. If you have a regular steamer. Run that over the beds and couches.. I would think steam would kill fleas. I would just hold it there for 8 to 12 seconds. We moved into a house with fleas.

If you have tried all that, it's time to call a professional exterminator. Also, take your cat to the vet and get a good flea treatment for it. It sounds like you've got them bad. Usually, a little flea and tick powder on the rugs will wipe them out. Looks like you need to call in the big guns for this one!

i would go to a pet store and buy a flea bomb for your house. it will spread quickly and get everything.
while you bomb your house, i would take the cat to the vet and ask for a flea dip and an overnight stay. then, you and your family can get a hotel for the night while the bomb does it's work.
i don't know if you can be around the flea bomb or not....read the directions. i would probably feel better if i wasn't around it, but that's your choice and depends on the bomb you get!
take care and good luck!

Fleas infest dusty areas and are very common in pets like cats and dog. I think the best cure would be to use powder insecticide by dusting it all over the house, wash and dust the pets and also regulary dust their kennels or cots with the powder insecticede. If you live in a dusty compund regularly pour water to minimise the dust.

Trust me on this one... you HAVE to call Fleabusters. (fleabusters.com) It's expensive, like 300 bucks or so, but it's guaranteed for a year and it's the only thing that worked for me. They sort of fight fire with fire, by spraying your yard with nematodes, which are parasites that feed on fleas! Kind of satisfying to know the little bastards are "dying by the sword." It takes care of the problem in about a week. Good luck.

Pour salt on the carpet. Seriously, it kills them. Let the salt sit over night, or even for 2 days, then vacuum it up. It should be gone, and the dead fleas will be vacuumed up with it.
If you notice any after that, do it again.
