I've had a scar that's 7 inches long on my leg from a car accident myself (I was 15). Although I'm happy with mine now, I remember when I wasn't (when I was a teenager mostly), so I've found you the following, maybe helpful, maybe not.

There's a link below for a 'new age' scar removal.
The next link is from the US, but has been dermatologically been proved to work.
The next link is a make-up link, but I thought it looked interesting anyway.

The best way is to make it a feature, but that takes maturity and courage. Silicone is being sold comercialy? I wonder if ordinary silicone will starve scar in the same way?

The Red Cross have a service for helping people cover severe scars and birthmarks - they are really successful and can help you with specialist make up and instructions on how to apply:

Good luck.

well whose gonna be lookin at your butt.. oh wait... you ment the other cheeks... (just trying to make ya laugh) :) Have you tried scar fade cream? Try Mederma it's suppost to work really good. My mom used some cheaper fade cream on a scar on her arm and it worked pretty well.

After that long it must be quite faded and I'm sure it looks worse to you than other people. Also it does add a bit of personality to your features so don't worry too much.

The only thing I can think of is that make-up that can cover tattoos. Try asking your chemist, he probably knows about loads of things you could try.
