It was shown when I was a kid, so thats late 1970s possibly early 1980s. It was on ITV and usually around about the same time as Chorlton and the Wheelies/Jamie and the Magic Torch...so about 10am/10.30am. It was the same group of characters in every episode, but each week it showed them in a different historic setting - I seem to remember a Roman one and a Greek one. I think it was partly educational, but I remember being really amused by it. One of the main characters was a little old man with a long grey beard - from what I remember he looked a bit like "Getafix" from the Asterix comics. Can anyone remember this? Does anyone know the title? It definitely had something to do with History.

I know exactly which one you're talking about & I loved it ... unfortunately I can't for the life of me remember what it was called ... yeah, the old man would take these kids through time to see history in the making ... learnt a lot of useless information from that ... wish I could help you on the name though ... sorry ...

Just went to www.sausagenet.com - I think it's Once Upon a Time ... Man. Was the old guy's name Maestro?

Sorry, don't know it. I was at school a bit later than that and don't remember it though it does sound familiar - was there an episode about the battle of Hastings?

There was a show called Histeria that came on in the mid/late 90's, but that's all I can think of.

try looking at sausagenet..they have quite comprehensive details on all kids tv programmes in the uk. They also have a forum there where you could ask people who are really in the know.

Also toonlist (.co.uk) has just about every cartoon that's ever been on UK tv.

Good luck
