Yes. Marriage is the easiest and most effective way to get US status. She will have to apply for I-130 after yo get married. It is a petition that you are married and want to be legal in the US. It may be deinied, but only in certain cases. You will go through medical testing and interviews. I am going through this now, I am amrried to an American. I haven't been called in to interview yet.

You have to go through the legal process.

If you marry in the US you need to have a K1 visa - that is for the fiancee. If you marry abroad you need to get the k3. Both are Non-immigrant visas. And you need further paperwork to legalize your stay here in the US.

The CR1 visa is an immigrant visa that will let you have your greencard or permanent residence shortly after arriving in the US.

Downside is, visa processing takes time. The K visas take anywhere between 7-9 months. The CR1 takes a bit longer.

have a friend who married a girl from Jamaca and she is not a US Citizen, she has filed all her paperwork but if for any reason until she is approved the government can send her packing back home. It used to be as long as you were married you were fine but that no longer holds true.

If you are here illegally, it won't work. Return to your home country with your fiance and marry there. Then she can apply for a fiance/spouse visa immediately.

Wow...yet another reason to close our borders.

Find a person to marry because you love that person and not their country.

Nope you have to get the government to let you. You have to get a green card. If you don't you will be deported.
