This makes no sence to me,Jeff George gimmie a break,Is this a shot at Aaron Brooks to put pressure on him,or just another lame move by Al Davis,What could Jeff bring to the table that we already dont have,Walters proved he can go deep, and Aaron can be mobile,Can Jeff even throw anymore and do we have to cart him on and off the field,Mr Davis our future is in Walters hands and you make a move like, this is not supporting him at all,Your an idiot and the weakest link....GOODBYE.Go Raider Nation.

I know he is old and I dont completely understand it either but..........
the guy STILL has a cannon arm. He is the 4th string QB, and I think he is only there for guidence (all the Raider QBs are young-ish). I dont see him playing, except for maybe the last preseason game. He knows how to throw the deep ball, and that is what the Raiders plan to do this season, so I see him there ONLY for teaching the QBs THAT skill.

1-Brooks
2-Walters
3-Tuiasosopo
4-George

The only thing I dont understand is....... why cut Collins AND THEN sign George?? Collins throws a good deep ball too and I would rather have him there than George, if one was going to actually play. I assume its because its cheaper to pay George to be the #4 QB, then it would be to pay Collins to be #2 or #3 and sit behind Brooks.

Go Raider Nation!!!!!

This does make sense. If you look at Art Shell's comments on George's signing, it's merely for the emergency purposes. The franchise has already decided that the Walters is their guy for the future. Aaron Brooks is the starter this year, and his back up has zero NFL experience. Signing George brings back a familiar face to the team, makes Randy Moss more comfortable by putting him with someone he has played with before, and if nothing Brooks can draw on George's experiences of playing with Moss and getting the ball to him effectively. If Brooks is to get hurt, Walter would at least have a #2 guy that's experienced enough to help him through the struggles. If both Brooks and Walters go down, you'd be in better hands with a QB that at least KNOWS what he's doing. I don't think George sees the field much at all unless someone gets hurt.

Al Davis is crazy for signing Jeff George to the Raiders;it's doubtful that he still throw. You might have to George off the field.

I totally agree...what the hell is he thinking signing a 38 year old man that hasn't thrown the ball for 5 years. What is Al gonna do next put himself in there as a QB. This is just a lame move.If he wanted another QB there has to be better than Jeff. If he wanted to take a shot at a QB than he could have went after Drew Henson.

I think you are over-reacting-Brooks and Walters are embedded in their spots. George just gives you a Little experience in the THIRD QB spot. He very likely will never see the field.
Al Davis has done alot of great things for Raider Nation but he is getting beyond his clear thinking years.
The best way to make a team better is not to upgrade your starters but to be constantly upgrading you 2nd and third string. that is what Belicheck does and that's how I see this move.
don't ask yourself if George is better than Brooks or Walters--Ask yourself if George is better than the third string QB currently on the roster.

Yeah, I saw that last night and almost fell out of my chair laughing. Al Davis is a fool if he thinks that trouble making cancer is going to help.

This quote sums up George's career:

George played well his first season in Oakland, throwing for 3,917 yards and 29 touchdowns in 1997, but the Raiders only went 4-12 that season, lol.

It is just another lame move by Al Davis. What's next? Rich Gannon? Jim Plunkett? Ken Stabler?

Kenny Stabler is pulling his cleats out of the closet and waiting by the phone for his invite to the roster. Hahahaha

Poor sorry raiders!
