I swear by my John Deere Tractor. I mow 2 acres of my land for lawn. A riding mower just doesn't have the horse power or the range to handle that much lawn without it taking hours! Invest the money and get the tractor.

That one they sell at Home Depot, you can just about kill it and they will just ake it back and give you another one, but it will take a lot of abuse, and will do a really good job, also easy to change blades and stuff like that, best part it is comfortable, not bouncing all over the place and a lot cheaper than sears etc. I can't for the life of me tjhink of the name but I had 5 acres and when I sold the place I left it for the new owner, it is red in color, the green colored one is not as sturdy and a different brand!

In my opinion the John Deere x340 is your best bet, sure its a little expensive but you wont find a better made or more dependable lawn tractor. I have about 4.75 acres and have bought and used craftsman and bolens tractors at a fraction of the cost but have had to replace both of them, so it would probably be in your best interest to go ahead and get the best you can get for the long term. I absolutely love this tractor, probably as much if not more than my Dog or my truck......i would throw my wife out there but if she saw it she would kill me.

Consumer Reports (CR) rates lawnmowers and would be a source for accurate information. Your local library will probably have a copy
The CR 2006 Buying Guide rates the John Deere L111 and L108 as best buys, and the Troy-Bilt 13AJ608G as well.
Good luck.

The best tractor - what are you looking for good quality with dependable service. then go to your closest dealer & talk to them, they will guide you with what you need. If you are looking at price and not so much after sale service then go to your local HD or Lowes & get yourself an economy tractor with e deck size of approx 46-48".
