One of the missions of the catholic church was to demonize writings and beliefs different than what they had decided was the only right religion. They did this really well, burning and killing anyone who thought differently than them for over 1500 years! Having a priest in every community who heard village gossip first hand also worked against those who strove to practice other religions, so what we have now is incomplete like the stone Henge from the Druids and the monoliths on easter Island, or the Inca temples in the jungles of south america.

There are many books out there that describe the culture and methods of everyday life in ancient times. Some of these may be a little off the wall for some people but if you are truly interested you will find a good booklisting and several hundreds of great articles on other cultures and history at the link I've provided

There really aren't any books that show their beliefs before Christianity - what info we have is filtered through the Christians so there is a major problem in knowing what is original and what has been modified.

still very interesting reading though, just have to keep that in mind

Yes. You might want to do a web search on the subject. Creation myths are fascinating as is mythology in general.

Go to any New Age Bookstore, or go one line to onespirit.com, azuregreen.com. One Spirit has alot of different types of books, where as Azure Green is strictly ritual and spell work. Some good books are Celtic Myth and Magic, by Edain McCoy, Norse Magic, by D.J. Conway, Scottish Witchcraft, by Ray Buckland, just to name a few. Good luck in your search.

I don't know any off the top of my head but I bet if you visited your local library and asked at the reference desk they should be able to help you.

Otherwise, I suggest you do a google search

like a never ending story that will keep you wondering
then you will not be able to sleep
you will search, and search, until you return back to dust
