Total shock!!! First of all I would wonder what's wrong with my parent. The person they are married is probably the same age as me and probably someone they have known for a long time. I would be very pissed at the both of them.

It depends - I don't see a problem with the age gap, so long as it's legal and they are in love - but it would be pretty damn bizarre to have a best friend as a step parent. Luckilly, I never liked my partner's daughter. Ha.
