You may speak, type, yell, scream, chat in anyway you please but we ask that you set a good example for others by using proper grammar please. This is not an order or demand, but a friendly request ;-).

ps. Why did you pose this question under the "Politics & Government" heading?

The way we present ourselves is how people judge us. In a venue such as this, where ones posts define them. Improper use of language indicates that one is either not terribly bright or one isn't serious. Given that Yahoo has provided a spell check button on the answer screen, (which granted doesn't always work) misspelled words shouldn't need to occur.

Frankly, I also think it is the closest to good manners one can have on the Internet.

One more thing, proper use of language is rarely a skill one just turns on and off. What happens, when your spelling and grammar actually counts? For example on an exam, or job application.

Well, obviously YOU don't - but you'll find that a lot of people DO. Those are mainly the sort of people who paid attention to the teacher when they were at school instead of farting about all the time, and when they write whatever, whenever and wherever, OTHER PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND THEM. Furthermore, it's actually quite satisfying being able to read and write properly. Perhaps you might care to try it sometime? That way you won't have to come up with excuses like you have in your question!

Obviously you don't, there is no need to let standards drop just because you are on the net. Its good practise as well. I suppose being Scottish you are at a disadvantage and correct English is almost like a foreign language to you. I must admit I do feel sorrry for you though with that speech impediment they call an accent north of the border.

Why should the writing internet be different from anywhere else? It's not like texting by mobile phone, where the buttons are so small that it's easier to abbreviate. There is simply no excuse. I heartily second what most other respondents have said here, that your bad spelling and grammar are a barrier to understanding and make you look thick.

Anyone should have a capital, so should "i" when referring to yourself. Grammar should not have an e in it.

Sould? Did you mean should?

And it should have been:

Oh by the way, I am Scottish and therefore a native English speaker.

Don't worry, I'm only joking!

If you have a problem like dyslexia, you should try to resolve it. If not, remember that it can be hard to understand what somebody is saying if they use incorrect spelling and grammar.

Other than that, don't worry about it.

An intelligent person usually prefers intelligence. If you are going to take the time on the internet to spell out weak language and GRAMMAR, SHOULD shut up..why not spell them correctly or at the very least...care???

Apparently most people (me included) care about spelling & grammar either on the net or otherwise.
Since you are telling the people who care about spelling & grammar to shut up does that mean that you don't require an answer, that you can understand, to your questions anyway?
If the only people who answer you are the ones who can't spell, don't use appropriate grammar or won't use spell check then maybe you won't understand them & will start to care.

"Dont care was made to care."

Has anyone told you that you have weak language and grammar. And what has being Scottish got to do with it? Are you trying to say that all Scottish people have bad grammar? I think you could upset many of your fellow countrymen if that is what you are thinking. Use spell check, that`s what it`s there for!

I'm sorry your "grammer" is weak. Maybe she should do some exercises and eat better...

Seriously, if you want to look like an uneducated lump of mud, that's your business. But people will think you're stupid and lazy if you can't at least mouse over to that "check spelling" button and see how close you got to getting things right.
