No, as long as you don't say it too loudly. It's called "people watching". I do it all of the time. I see someone somewhere, the train station or walking down the street and a I make up clever names for them.

In my home town, there is someone that I call "Happy Butt Slapper" because his arm bangs against his butt when he walks and he's always walking around the town.

I don't think it's mean... Just don't let them hear you.

Yea, sounds kinda mean to me. But really what does it hurt if they never hear you say that. I admit, I do that sometimes too, like I describe someone as the "fat guy" or something. Its not entirely nice. I try not to do it, just out of respect, but it happens. So if you feel its mean, then stop, if not, more power to you, just make sure they dont hear you say that, bc then it will hurt.

Do you say it to them in public though?

Just for fun, I dare you to wink at them and give one of them a genuine compliment the next time you see them. You may find they're nice ladies, and the extra attention may do something for their self esteem and motivate them to work on their selves, health and image.

It was not a nice thing to do , little lady, but knowing that now, you are going to encourage your friend to do the right thing, right?
I am glad to see you have a good conscience.
