Remember very few ppl are natural speakers.. the rest of us have to be trained. Stage fright is the rule rather than the exception. I have met ppl that have no fear but they are few and far between. Here are some tips:
1) practice your talk, over and over until it becomes 2nd nature -- especially the first 5 minutes when you are the most nervous
2) focus on the material and forget about yourself
3) use visual aids to take the attention away from yourself, slides, diagrams, etc.
4) stay confident, remember your audience wants to hear what you are saying
5) focus on a few people in the audience and make eye contact with them throughout your speech
6) imagine your audience in their underwear
7) take deep breaths before starting, relax
8) remember there is nothing to make you more confident than good research & preparation on your subject

ask yourself the root of your nervousness. why do you care about what those other people think? by letting them influence your mood and the way you act you are giving in to their sublte pressure.
just coach yourself. practice with an audience that you find unthreatening. talk to yourself in the mirror. Get very familliar with the speech so it becomes second nature. If you have a commanding presence when you give the speech they will be captivated and give you full attention. You want to be a strong speaker that inspires interest. Think of ways to encourage the audience to identify, keep them actively listening to you. You want the speech to be enjoyable, not an ordeal to dread.
As long as you practice and keep up confidence, you will be powerful to deliver a good speech.

I am also a bad speaker. I used to suck in class presentations too. But one thing I did was that I didnt fidgit at all. I forgot my words and stood there for like 30 seconds. So even though i was nervous to the limit, when I asked my friends how I was they didnt really notice anything bad and said it was OK. So I guess the secret is not to fidgit and to look confident. Another example: my friend was red when he stopped talking in front of the class and he felt all warmish of nervousness. But he seemed so confident because he didnt fidgit.

Try taking a public speaking class. And then when you have to give a speech, practice it a lot. Then just stand up straight and don't fidget or anything so you look confident. Fake it until you make it! Good luck!

it is called practice. try it at home, then at school with your friends or at home with your family. ask for any feedback. use that feedback to make you more confident. when you seem confident with the way you walk and talk every one will see your confidence. or my other suggestion is to take a speech class-it actually makes you give speeches and so forth in front of your peers. good luck!

Bring a friend and pretend like you're talking only to your friend, make eye contact with your friend. Then focus on the back of the room without making eye contact or looking at any one person so it looks like you're speaking to the whole crowd.

First rule: Never, ever, ever, ever use a written-out speech or a "script," or plan ahead of time the exact words you're going to say. It must be spontaneous and from the heart to be genuine. If only the stupid politicians would follow this advice.
Secondly, you must firmly believe right down to your boostraps what you're talking about.
Third, don't listen to others, if they tell you differently regarding rule one.
