Tipping???? I'm English and we dont tip anybody. All the time I lived in UK....I never once tipped a soul, never crossed my mind to do so and I went to restaurants and used cabs/hotels all the time. They get paid well to do their job, so tipping isnt necessary or expected. If they do a GREAT job...its good because they are doing their job well. If they do a lousy job they wont keep the job very long because people will complain!
Tipping is a USA thing...and maybe they need it because they dont have a basic wage in their own country? English people thrive on a smile/good humor and gratiousness.........not money pushed into their hands for a job they should be doing well ANYWAY, due to their own work ethics. Bribery doesnt do it. If you get good service...tell them and their company....that is sufficient.

Tipping is not anywhere like it is in the USA.
Iwould onlytip a bellhop if they carried my bags up to my room when checking in -- then 1 GBP per bag
Limousine driver --not sure what you mean by this. Taxi drivers get 10% of fare.
Restaurants 10-15% unless servicecharge is included (which means you've paid the tip). Please don't start spraying 20% US style tips around because you make it difficult for us locals, And remember the bill (check) already includes 17.5% VAT (sales tax) so any tip is on tax

You pay what you feel like...If the service has been appauling and you are charged a standard fare....dont tip.
If you are happy with your service and want to reward the staff, I would suggest £5.00 for the limo driver, unless of course you have had him for the day, then perhaps a tip of £30.00 is in order, and for the Porter (we dont call them bellhops here), if it is when you are leaving following your stay at the hotel, I would suggest £10.00 per person you feel that has given you the best service.

Tipping is more common in America because it is reflected in the inadequate salary. If you feel someone deserves a tip in this country then I would say 5% of the bill, 15% if 5% is under a pound.
I would personally tip bigger is budget places, because the staff are likely paid less.

I usually tip them all 50p. You should see the look they give you. They've obviously never seen that much money before and think you are a millionaire and an amazingly generous person.
