World War 2 started in 1939 (in Europe). Japan started attacking throughout Asia in 1937, so some date the war from then.
There was a war before Pearl Harbor. I believe that the USA would have eventually come into the European war in 1942, but obviously, there is no proof that they would have done that.

Yes, absolutely. FDR was pushing the US into the war.
On the European side, he'd wrangled the Lend-Lease deal with England to give them destroyers for convoy duty. Clearly a provocative move.
He pursued a policy whereby US Navy vessels escorted British convoy ships hundreds of miles into the Atlantic - a clear violation of any concept of neutrality and a provocation to the Germans.
And there was his embargoes against Japan, shutting off key resource supply lines. Also a provocative move.
So, yes, eventually we would have sufficiently provoked either Japan or Germany enough to attack the US in some fashion, and FDR would have gotten the declaration of war from Congress.

Nope, Hitler never wanted to attack the United States. He was aware of the potential. He counted on the fact that there was a leftist Liberal mentality, going on here...That was in his favor, However the japanese attacked and he had an agrrement with the Japanese to support them.
Once we were attacked that changed the Liberal mind, and that right quick.

It depends on when you chose to call it a world war.
How many countries have to be involved etc.
It's arbitrary
