If not, do you pick it up from the post office?

Only if the sender has written on it: "UPS: OK to leave outside door in the rain."

Otherwise they leave a note and try to deliver again for a few days. Then maybe send a postcard, wait a few more days, before returning to sender.

If you have the tracking number, check it at http://www.ups.com

UPS never leaves anything at the Post Office, although sometimes if a parcel has only a PO Box number, and they can't figure out how to deliver it, they mail it.

you get packages at the post office from USPS not UPS. UPS is United Parcel Service. If its raining they try not to leave it where it will get wet. If they dont deliver it they leave a card saying they attempted to deliver and it will tell you where to pick up the package.

UPS do not leave packages by your door. If you can't be home to sign for package, the carrier might leave it with your neighbor. If not, you will have to pick it up at United Parcel Service Center which will be indicated on the note.
