I move house from a DSL location to a house with a LAN line. It drops out every 22 seconds and reaquires 15 seconds later and then repeats the same pattern. ihave taken off every firewall and set all the LAN settings to the same as my laptop which has no problems. WHat is it with the 22 second drop out????

Keep it held tightly in your hand and it'll be OK.

Although a LAN connection is faster then a general DSL connection they are not really as reliable try contacting your service provider and explaining your problem to them and maybe they will be able to help you. It could just be that your equipment is not compatible with a LAN connection also if you are using a wireless network or a USB connection then try switching to Ethernet as you will find that an Ethernet cable connection will be more reliable and give you more constant speed if you have your Internet on 24/7. Also if you are running a network then it could be a network fault - I had this problem and I run 5 PCs with Ethernet and 2 with USB 1 Wireless and 4 Game stations - so if you run a network that is something similar to mine you may have to reinstall your network drivers to fix the problem

When you say Lan line do you mean cable internet? It could have to do with the modem itself, or the router if you use one. If it drops like you say then reaquires signal over and over it sounds like the router is rebooting, or possibly the modem itself...Try unp;ugging the whole network and then turn things on 1 at a time starting with the modem, then router, then computer, And watch the status lights on each one to make sure they dont keep rebooting. If they are rebooting then you might have to contact the vendor and posibally flash and reupload the firmware.
