Try alcohol soak the item either in gin or vodka, clean lightly with a soft, soft brush, rinse and then dry. Hey presto looks like new and sparkles like a diamond ought and the gold will glitter again, but remember all that glitters is not gold.

Warning! Warning! Do not clean it in the shower as suggested by a previous answerer it might drop down the plug hole and it will be a messy business to retrieve it, then you will have to clean it in the true sense of the word.

Spray window cleaner with vinegar works well on both, a toothbrush will leave scratch marks on 22ct gold as it is so soft gold. Try this if not going to the mall, the store where it was purchased normally clean for free and check for any damage and loose stones.

Goddards do a jewellery cleaning kit. It's not expensive. Just dip the items in it for a few minutes, and give them a brush with the wee brush included in the set. Rinse off with lukewarm water and dry on a soft, lint free cloth.

Prepare to be dazzled!

They say vinegar does the job, however I once tried it, but didn't like the smell at all. Another option might be regular soap and water, if the items are really made of gold and diamond.

you can soak in for a few minutes in dish soap and water, then clean out the grooves GENTLY with a soft toothbrush. be careful, though, cuz the toothbrush can sometimes loosen the prongs around the diamond. you should get it checked every once in a while

Go to any mall and usually one of the jewlery stores will clean them for free in their cleaner. They do not charge anything and it is a good way to shop around for maybe a new peice.
